Jaguar will reveal its first electric model in the history of the brand in the form of the I-Pace SUV.

The British carmaker has already received thousands expressions of interest from prospective customers for the eagerly anticipated I-Pace, which is set to open a new chapter for Jaguar.

The new I-Pace will ride on a bespoke architecture, with Jaguar taking advantage of the electric powertrain’s compact packaging in order to offer a roomier cabin.

The electric Jaguar will remain faithful to the concept’s looks as portrayed by the numerous prototypes being tested around the world these past few months and is expected to be powered by two electric motors, one mounted on each axle, for a total of 394hp (400PS).

Technical details of the production I-Pace remain a secret for now, with the concept making use of a 90kWh battery pack, giving it a total driving range of up to 310 miles (500km). 0-60mph is an estimated 4 seconds dead.

Jaguar says that the I-Pace will be able to charge its battery up to 80 percent in 45 minutes when using a 100kW fast-charger, with the time increasing to 90 minutes with a 50kW charger.

The new Jaguar I-Pace is expected to hit the showrooms this year, making it the first electric SUV to be offered by a big car maker and the first Tesla Model X rival. All we have to do is wait a few more minutes in order to find out all the details.
