Few cars live up to the hype of the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Engineered to be a proper driver’s car, it has already set a new lap record at the Nurburgring, dethroning the Lamborghini Huracan Performante.

Thanks to the 700PS (690hp / 515kW) and 750Nm (553lb-ft) of torque generated by the twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six that are channeled to the ground via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the new 911 GT2 RS is capable of reaching as much as 340km/h (212mph) and needs just 2.9 seconds to hit 100km/h (62mph) from a standstill.

The new GT2 RS is Stuttgart’s fastest road-legal 911 ever yet, unlike some performance-oriented cars, it doesn’t cut back on comfort. Occupants can still enjoy features such as the infotainment system, electric windows, air conditioning, leather and Alcantara trim, to name but a few.

Even with all that kit, it tips the scales at 1,470kg (3,240lbs) as the bonnet, front wings, rear side intakes and parts of the rear end are all carbon fiber and the roof is made from magnesium. Moreover, customers can specify the (optional) Weissach package that features carbon anti-roll bars and coupling rods, ceramic brakes, titanium exhaust, magnesium wheels and rear-axle steering and shaves 30 kg (66 pounds) off the standard car’s weight.

Of course, experiencing it first-hand is the best way to appreciate it. But for mosy, who will likely never get that chance, checking it out in action POV-style is the closest thing to putting it through its paces. So sit back, relax and get ready for more than 9 minutes of pure driving fun.
