The modern-day Fiat 500 builds upon the success of the classic model, a small car that was built by the Italian company from 1957 to 1975.

Thanks to its original shape, the ‘Cinquecento‘ turned out to be a huge success of Fiat, which sold almost 3.9 million units during its long production run.

In the meantime, the original Cinquecento (that’s five hundred in Italian) has become favored among enthusiasts, and examples are often get listed for more than a new Fiat 500 on the used car market. And, as is often the case with classics, someone has built a scale model out of Lego bricks.

Listed on LegoIdeas, this one isn’t exactly on sale yet, but it could be if it gets enough supporters. At the time of writing, it needed more than 1,600 votes, and with 137 days left, it could achieve them and eventually hit the shelves.

Made from 1,157 LEGO bricks, it retains the iconic design of the real car and benefits from opening doors, hood and trunk lid. It also gets a sunroof that can be opened and closed, a removable luggage rack at the rear, detailed trunk with spare wheel, jack and toolbox and an engine compartment with a replica of the original powertrain.

Inside, the Lego-made 500 has custom prints for the dashboard, movable seats, pedals and handbrake.

Its creator has also made it in three other colors besides the red example. The white one tried to gather enough supporters a couple of years ago, but failed. Here’s to seeing the Italian classic on Lego’s website, with a price tag next to it.
