The partnership between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing will extend far beyond the Valkyrie hypercar currently in development.

Speaking with journalists at the British Grand Prix last weekend, Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner confirmed that the company is involved in a number of projects with Aston Martin.

“We have a growing advanced technology department within Red Bull and we’re all fully involved with the two cars, the Valkyrie and then the track version.”

Horner then went on to assert that Red Bull will be involved in other Aston Martin supercars including the “003”, a mid-engine supercar set to rival vehicles like the McLaren 720S and Ferrari 488 GTB.

“We’ll be heavily involved in 003 and then we’ll be looking at fourth-iteration and fifth-iteration cars as well,” Horner revealed.

Car Advice reports that an Aston Martin spokesman was eager to stress that nothing beyond the “baby Valkyrie” 003 is an active project.

As the Valkyrie has yet to even hit the roads for testing, the automaker’s second mid-engine supercar is still some way off and tipped for a 2020 launch.

However, at March’s Geneva Motor Show, Aston Martin chief executive Andy Palmer confirmed that the new supercar will be a hybrid, with reports claiming that AMG’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is the most likely engine of choice. To ensure the vehicle properly shakes up the supercar constabulary, it will have a horsepower figure in the mid-700s.
