While SSC North America keeps teasing the 2019 Tuatara, a used 2010 Ultimate Aero TT popped up for sale for an eye-catching price: $225,000.

Most of us first heard of the SSC back in 2007, when an Ultimate Aero broke the Guinness World Record of fastest production car after hitting 256mph (412km/h), a record which held until 2010.

Power comes from a twin-turbo 6.3-liter V8, which makes 1287hp and 1,112lb-ft of torque. The Ultimate Aero TT also got a different aero package and better airflow to its engine from the original Ultimate Aero.

That’s an impressive set of numbers to be having in any car but if it happens to be backed by an official Guinness record, it’s even better.  But these numbers on the other hand are not accompanied by any sort of the modern electronic safety systems other supercars offer; there’s no ABS, nor traction control here, just a manual (!) near-1300hp mid-engined supercar.

It’s certainly not for everyone but then, that’s why depreciation has hit so hard the Ultimate Aero. According to period reports, the SSC Ultimate Aero was priced between $600,000 and $700,000 when new.

This particular blue-and-white example has covered 1,400 miles since new and according to the seller it’s the only one currently available for sale in the world. Unfortunately the ad on Dupont Registry doesn’t include more (or clearer) photos of the car, raising a few eyebrows about whether its real or not but hey, you only live once.
