A batch of very official-looking photos of McLaren’s 243mph-plus (that’s just over 390 km/h!) hypercar have emerged on the internet for those of you who can’t wait for the Speedtail’s presentation on Friday.

Judging from these images, courtesy of Twitter user Autobant, it’s a distinctive, if not odd-looking, hypercar – we’ll give McLaren that. If we were to share and elaborate our first (and possibly flawed) thought, we’d say it’s like a supercar molding of a GM EV1 and a McLaren Senna. But alas, let’s not get ahead of ourselves before we see it, if not in person, at least through more high-definition pictures tomorrow morning.

Something tells us that the futuristic looking interior that borrows the three-seat layout of the Speedtail’s spiritual successor from the 1990s, the iconic F1, will be a less controversial topic for discussion.

The driver sits smack in the center of the cabin with two passenger seats placed behind each shoulder. Don’t expect the two passengers to be spaciously comfortable, but they shouldn’t be throng together either.

The driver-focused cockpit gets a large center-mounted screen flanked by two equally big touchscreens, while further away we see two more LCD panels that will display images from the cameras that replace the conventional mirrors.

McLaren’s third top-tier Ultimate Series model after the more dynamically-focused Senna and P1, will have a twin-turbocharged V8 engine augmented by an electric hybrid system with a combined output in excess of 1,000 horsepower. The British company claims it will be faster than any production McLaren to date with a top speed of over 243mph (361km/h).

Like it or not, if you haven’t reserved one yet, you’re too late, as McLaren says all 106 Speedtail models have already been reserved, despite the steep £1.75 million or $2.1 million (plus taxes) price tag. Production of the three-seater model will start towards the end of next year at the McLaren Production Center.
