The wraps have started to come off the 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA, as the car’s official unveiling date is fast approaching.

According to Autocar, the CLA could premiere as early as next January, and it’s expected to make its first official appearance at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), in Las Vegas.

The four-door coupe will be sold as a posher alternative to the A-Class Sedan. Thus, it will retain the low-slung silhouette that’s supposed to make it look sportier than Merc’s other compact saloon.

Contrary to previous reports, the Shooting Brake will live on in the second generation of the CLA. This was confirmed by the German automaker about a month ago, in their official road map that gave us a look into upcoming models.

The sleek estate will debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show next March, according to the British publication. It will share the engine lineup with the four-door coupe which, in turn, will borrow some units from the new A-Class family.

Expect the usual petrol and diesel units, as well as all-wheel drive models. At the high end of the spectrum will sit the AMG-developed CLA 35 and CLA 45, the former with 306 PS (301 hp / 225 kW) and the latter with more than 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW).
