Cadillac introduced the stylish Escala concept at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance two years ago, but the model has made a surprising appearance in a new ad for the 2019 XT4.

While the concept doesn’t actually appear in the clip, GM Authority noticed the Escala name is shown about 16 seconds into the video on a theater. This doesn’t appear to be a coincidence as a quick search on Google doesn’t show any movie theaters called the Escala.

So what does it mean? Potentially nothing. Automakers love Easter eggs and the Escala name in the commercial could be simply that.

Of course, it could also be a hint that the Escala is going into production. That’s possible given the windows mention “new arrivals.”

While we haven’t heard much about the Escala since its unveiling, Cadillac showed the concept at the Chicago Auto Show earlier this year. More recently, a report suggested a production version of the Escala will be built at the Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant in 2021.

We haven’t seen much supporting evidence of that, but Cadillac is in the midst of a major product transformation which will see the brand launch an assortment of new models including the CT3 / CT4, CT5 and XT6. The company is also working on an all-new Escalade and a spokesperson recently confirmed several new electric vehicles are on the horizon.

Getting back to the Escala concept, the model is a four-door liftback sedan which is approximately six inches (152.4 mm) longer than the CT6. The concept rode on the same platform as the CT6 and was powered by a prototype version of the twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8 that resides in the 2019 CT6-V.
