Jeep Grand Cherokee Almost Runs Over Man In Bizarre Car Wash Video

Fresh from the ‘what the heck department’ comes this bizarre video that shows a Jeep Grand Cherokee nearly hitting two people who were simply cleaning their car.

There’s no word on when or where the video was taken, but it shows a car wash and a handful of people using the facility’s vacuum cleaners. Everything appears to be going fine until the Grand Cherokee’s owner gets into the vehicle and begins reversing out of their spot.

While the driver starts off pretty slow, they rapidly accelerate towards a Honda Accord that is parked at a different vacuum cleaner. Thankfully, the Accord’s driver looks up and begins running backward in an attempt to avoid being hit.

His quick thinking is only partially successful as he’s eventually knocked to the ground. The driver then rapidly shifts into drive and almost hits the Accord’s female passenger who was apparently trying to get the driver to stop.

The driver doesn’t stop right away and eventually hits a platform where a vacuum cleaner is located. As the woman rushes to check on the man, the Grand Cherokee appears to rev its engine.

The bizarre situation doesn’t end there as the driver opens the door and begins inching forward. The driver eventually puts the Jeep into park and gets out of the vehicle as the footage comes to an end.

Given the limited context, it’s not exactly clear what caused this to happen. The Grand Cherokee was slowly reversing at first, so it seems unlikely that the driver was confused. The rapid acceleration after hitting the man is also puzzling, but it is possible the driver briefly thought about fleeing the scene.

Regardless, everyone seems to have escaped unharmed despite a couple of close calls.

I’m so tired of seeing these F sticks driving. take their driving licence away already. video proof shows they don’t deserve the privilege.

  • DetrinKD

I wouldn’t be surprised if it had something to do with the floor mat pegging the accelerator being that they most likely just finished vacuuming the car. Maybe they didn’t secure it properly and it got stuck somehow. To me it’s clear they didn’t have full control of the car.

not OK to almost kill those people. my point is, they should have stopped sooner, shut the suv off and GET OUT, and go check the victims are ok or not, and see if they need help. the jerk driver as long as this video runs for, does none of that. hence calling them jerk

      • DetrinKD

My comment wasn’t in response to yours… it was just my observation. But they did get out of the vehicle right as the video cuts off. Yeah they should have stopped sooner… but it legitimately looks as if they couldn’t or couldn’t figure out what was going on in that moment of panic.

yeah i think you’re right… the gas pedal seems to be stuck with something and can be seen there is a lot of smoke coming out of the exhaust before the engine is turned off.

      • FFEMT6

It was a cold day, you can see that in the way the Honda occupants are dressed, the increase in “smoke,” is the exhaust on a cold morning and throttle opening up, which also seems to indicate some kind of jam or sticking pedal.

This would be also my first guess, probably in combination with the nowadays so popular, confusing automatic selectors, where you can’t just instinctively get it out of D or R …

      • DetrinKD

        My thoughts exactly.

They were playing car tag and that guy was IT.

  • dumblikeyou2

Gear selector. The same one that killed that Anton Yelchin. Convoluted design that confuses the already confused.
And thank you, BMW, for developing a crappy gear selector design that other car manufacturers think they have to copy.

or maybe the dumb person doesnt know how to drive and should be arrested.

      • EL CHAPO

it’s not the guy, it’s the crappy jeep.

    • FFEMT6

Ok, but to me it didn’t look like the jeep driver had any difficulty finding the R or D gear. The rate of acceleration in both gears seems suspect.

Oh I don’t think this was an equioment failure or a user error. I think that dude in the Honda knows the girl in the Jeep and the girl in his car was NOT supposed to be in there!

    • Althea Later

      what Honda?

  • Paul

I don’t think it was as intentional as one might think. If so he would have immediately fled the scene not just sat there. Also notice how much exhaust or whatever is coming from the Jeep, what’s up with that? Is it not running right or just cold weather?
