Real-Life Dodge Charger Ute Can Be Yours For Just $15,500

If you own a sixth-gen Charger and would like to do something different with it, then you might want to consider getting in touch with Smyth Kit Cars in order to purchase one of their Ute kits.

Of course, if you prefer to buy something that’s already been modded, here’s a 2008 Charger R/T Hemi Ute, currently listed for sale priced at $15,500. As you can see, the car was skillfully transformed from a four-door sedan into a small utility truck, and was also given a more aggressive stance.

The exterior features a blue satin 3M wrap and sits two inches closer to the road thanks to a custom spring kit. Other mods include a black chin spoiler for the front and a set of gloss black Hellcat 20-inch wheels that are 9-inches wide out front and 10-inches at the rear.

Speaking of the rear, in case you’re wondering where those taillights come from, the tuner specifies that they are modified Dodge Grand Caravan lights. Meanwhile, the tailgate is Ford-sourced and the rear window comes from a Chevy Colorado pickup.

As for the truck bed, it has a multi-panel aluminum construction and measures a full 6-feet in length. The maximum payload rating is about 900 lbs (408 kg), which isn’t much, but it’s not like a regular Charger could strap on this much weight.

In the end, would you say that this type of mod is something a sixth-gen 2005-2010 Charger should look forward to, or would you rather keep the four-door sedan look?

    Strangely enough; I like this…

    • TB

Agreed…looks like it was done properly.

    • But would you buy it?

  • Ryan Batties

Shocked, but I love this. If it was on Jalopnik, I’d say nice price, definitely not a crack pipe.

Not bad, although I wish GM brought that Holden UTE stateside as a Pontiac. Buuuuut, it probably wouldn’t have sold well.

    • I wouldn’t buy a pickup but I would consider a UTE. The feel of a sedan with the cargo space of a pickup is enticing.

    It’s a crime against humanity.

Since he already ran the conversion. Why didn’t he work on that front and put some RAM look on it. I might be up to something here.

    • because it would look like a lowered ram. It looks much better the way it is.

      • Bash

        No it doesn’t.

        • Andrewthecarguy

          Yes it does 🙂

          • Bash

No it’s not. And I can go all day and all night with this little game.

          • Andrewthecarguy

            Hahahahahaha

Only a couple of years ago….
you could buy factory GM and Ford utes with 6 cyl or v8’s in Australia.
They did sell well, but in the end, they got swallowed up by the 4 door pickups.
What’s not to like about the Ute based on a big sedan?

  • Six_Tymes

not bad actually, It works design wise and looks useful.

    • Andrewthecarguy

      It also looks sporty.

  • MarketAndChurch

I think the trunk, rear bumper, and tail lights were a bit of a missed opportunity to create something truly amazing, but that being said, this is one of the best car-to-pickup conversions I’ve seen. Especially for a car from the last 15 years.

The age is testament to the “goodness” of the design. I can see this being a thing if the creators are willing to make more.
