Suzuki Swift Sport Katana Is A Dutch-Only Limited Edition Model

A little cross-promotion can go a long way in the auto industry and Suzuki knows that.

A maker of both motorcycles and automobiles, the Japanese company looked to combine both worlds with a new special edition version of the Suzuki Swift Sport hatch. Without further ado, say hello to the Swift Sport Katana, named after one of the company’s most iconic motorcycles launched in 1981, which also happened to make a return for 2019.

Built in a limited run of only 30 units, the Swift Sport Katana will only be available in The Netherlands, for some reason.

The limited-edition hatch pays tribute to the Suzuki Katana bike when it comes to the choice of colors, as only Premium Silver Metallic and Super Black Pearl paints are available, each in a production run of 15 units. Besides the body colors, other identification marks include a bonnet stripe, door graphics, the Katana symbol on the front doors, and the serialized number on the C-pillars.

Other unique exterior details consist of the red accents surrounding the grille, black mirror caps, black OZ 18-inch alloys shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, and grey bumper trims and side skirts with a carbon fiber look. Inside, the changes are limited to a thicker sports steering wheel with a Katana badge and partial leather seats with embroidered Katana lettering and serialized number. Those with a keen eye for details will also spot the Katana symbol on the door cards and Katana lettering on the floor mats.

Suzuki did more than just upgrade the Swift Sport’s appearance with this limited edition model, as the car also features a lowered adjustable suspension, a strut bar, and an upgraded exhaust system. Dutch buyers can have the Swift Sport Katana for a starting price of €28,999 (the equivalent of $32,500). That’s about four grand more expensive than the standard model.

    Oh, yeah! Now w’re talking!
Kudos to the brain behind this edition, whoever he is.
One of the best assortiments I’ve ever seen in a Suzuki Swift MY2017.
Everything fits with everything (the colours, the add-ons, the spoilers, the decals, ec).
The attention to detail is really and utterly exhausting, inside and outside.
This one version gets to be – in my opinion – one of which many will drool over.
Even the dutch, since only … 30 will be sold over there!
I might have bought one, here in Greece, just for the sake of it!

Why does the Swift look like a Hyundai Veloster now?

  • Loquacious Borborygmus

Think about that for a moment.

its crazy priced I know. but then again, for the past 10 years or so every car and truck is over priced. Two years ago, the only true deal in my opinion was nissans sentra, but that got a 1000 price hike since 2017, and who knows how high the next sentra gen will cost. car companies have priced themselves out of reach of most people, Suzuki is no exception. Their cars used to be reasonably priced for a very long time, not anymore.

That’s how much you can pick up a brand new Kia Stinger 2.0T for in the USA now. There was an article on Jalopnik. Kia and Hyundai dealerships love to play tricks and add fees such as a “rust-proofing” fee in California.

Can I get the car, the bike, and an actual Katana?

The price also does not surprise me, all special additions these days have a hefty price for a few upgrades mostly paint. No engine upgrades or tweeks. Check the price of a ///M Sport body kit or AMG kits. Manufacturers know how to pull you in if you are not careful. And we all been there, the first 3 months it fantastic and then honeymoon period ends and its another car to you. But you locked in a finance deal that sucks.
