It’s not every day that you see a classic Aston Martin DBS V8 specially prepped for drag racing. Actually, we don’t even recall ever seeing such a thing, yet that’s exactly what you can see in the video below.

Now, when we say that this is an Aston Martin V8 prepped for drag racing, we say that rather loosely. The description of this video claims that the car in question started out life as a 1970 DBS V8 but has since undergone a series of significant alterations to make it unlike any other on earth.

For starters, the car is now powered by a 568 ci big block Chevrolet V8 with a huge 118 mm turbocharger, raising total output to roughly 2500 hp. To put that into perspective, the 5.3-liter V8 which came standard with the DBS V8 is thought to have pumped out a touch over 300 HP. What this means is that this Aston Martin drag racer is light-years ahead of the standard car and is capable of some truly astonishing performance times.

The owner of the car, Mark Todd, recently brought out his Aston to a drag racing event at Santa Pod Raceway. His best run for that day was a 7.81-second quarter mile at 179 mph (288 km/h) but at a later event, he recorded an astonishing time of 6.93-seconds at 202 mph (325 km/h).

While this is technically a a DBS V8, none of its body panels appear stock and its powertrain is totally bespoke. In fact, we’d be surprised if there was a single bolt or screw which is original – except, perhaps, for the badges…
