2020 Mercedes-AMG E63 Estate Straps On Production Front End In Time For Track Tests

After teasing us with multiple prototypes of the facelifted E63 in sedan form, Mercedes-AMG have now begun testing the Estate version too.

Unlike before, we can also see the E63 wearing its production-ready Panamericana grille, which was “conveniently” left off previous prototypes. Also visible, though under wraps, is what appears to be a new front bumper, seemingly more angular than before.

At the rear, it’s hard to tell if the taillights are shaped any differently, but odds are new graphics are a given. What’s definitely new is the bottom part of the rear bumper, where the chrome insert is now positioned above the quad exhaust tips, instead of underneath and in-between.

Even though no interior shots were obtained, we know that the facelifted E-Class will come with a new steering wheel and an updated center stack (new touchpad and latest version of the MBUX system).

Power is expected to come from the same twin-turbocharged V8 unit as before, with two available outputs. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Mercedes-AMG boffins find a way to extract a little extra muscle than what we currently get in the E63 and E63 S, specifically 563 HP (571 PS) in the former and 603 HP (612 PS) for the latter.

Straight line performance probably won’t change all that much and that’s perfectly fine, seen as how you can already hit 60 mph in just under 3.5 seconds in a 2019 E63 S Estate.

Like its four-door sibling, the Mercedes-AMG E63 wagon will probably be unveiled sometime after the regular updated E-Class, meaning it could happen in early 2020 rather than late 2019.
