Facelifted 2021 Mini Countryman Reveals Its Union Jack-Styled LED Taillights

The Countryman SUV is Mini’s next model to get a facelift and we’ve got a new set of spy shots of the updated SUV to show you.

As you can see, exterior updates will be limited to the front and rear ends of the vehicle, with the 2020 Countryman getting updated bumpers, a refreshed grille, as well as new graphics for the headlights and taillights.

The photos allow us to see clearly the new signature of the taillamps which is modeled after the Union Jack, just like on the facelifted Mini Hatch and Convertible. As for the headlamps, the facelifted Countryman is likely to adopt adaptive matrix-beam LED headlights as an option.

Expect to see updated alloy wheels, a revised color palette, as well a the new two-dimensional Mini logos. Inside, the 2020 Mini Countryman should offer upgraded equipment including new infotainment systems, new trim and color options.

Engine choices are likely to remain unchanged and include a base 102 hp (103 PS) 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit in the One, a 134 hp (136 PS) 1.5-liter three-cylinder unit in the Cooper, a 189 hp (192 PS) 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the Cooper S, and a 302 hp (306 PS) 2.0-liter turbo-four in the recently-launched John Cooper Works range-topper. The plug-in hybrid Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 should also remain on the menu especially since Mini updated it recently with a larger 9.6-kWh battery pack.

The Countryman will continue to offer diesel engines as well. The Cooper One D will carry on with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder making 114 hp (116 PS), with the range also including the Cooper D featuring a 148 hp (150 PS) 2.0-liter unit, and the Cooper SD packing a 188 hp (190 PS) 2.0-liter engine.

The Countryman Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper D, and Cooper SD models will also be available with all-wheel drive, which is standard on the JCW. The facelifted Mini Countryman is expected to arrive in mid-2020 as a 2021 model.
