The 2020 Cadillac CT5-V was a disappointment for fans expecting a proper successor to the CTS-V, but the company has announced its lower performance will be accompanied by a significantly lower price tag.

Set to arrive early next year, the CT5-V will start at $48,690 including a $995 destination charge. That means the model is almost $40,000 cheaper than the 2019 CTS-V which began at $86,995.

Customers will be able to choose an assortment of options and one of the most popular will likely be all-wheel drive. It costs $2,600 and bumps the base price up to $51,290.

Speaking of options, customers can order premium paint ($625 – $1,225), blue or red brake calipers ($595) and different 19-inch alloy wheels ($600). An assortment of packages will also be available, including a Driver Awareness Plus package that costs $1,300. It adds a head up display, lane keep assist with lane departure warning and an 8-inch digital display in the instrument cluster.

Buyers can also opt for the $1,950 Driver Assistance and Advanced Security package. It adds adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and reverse automatic braking. Other highlights include a locking fuel door, a self-powered theft-deterrent system and vehicle inclination / movement sensors.

The $2,090 Parking package rewards buyers with a rear camera mirror, rear pedestrian alert and an automatic parking assist system. There’s also a surround vision system, a hands-free trunk, an air ionizer and a power tilt / telescoping steering column.

The $4,190 Premium package adds the Climate and Lighting packages as well as a head up display. It also includes GPS navigation and a Bose premium audio system.

Buyers looking for more luxury can opt for the Platinum package which costs $6,290. It adds semi-aniline leather seats, an UltraView sunroof and the parking package.

Besides announcing pricing, Cadillac confirmed the CT5-V is more powerful than originally estimated. The gains are minor, but the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 is now rated at 360 hp (268 kW / 365 PS) and 405 lb-ft (548 Nm) of torque – a small improvement of 5 hp (4 kW / 5 PS) and 5 lb-ft (7 Nm).
