PSA has lost no time working on an update for the second-gen Opel Insignia, as only one year after it entered production, we saw the first updated prototype testing in the wild.

More recently, the test cars have started dropping camo, and the latest ones spied kept the vinyl stickers to the minimum. The blue example pictured in the gallery below is the regular Insignia Grand Sport.

It gets its final production headlights, inspired by the new-gen Corsa, along with a new bumper and grille. The taillights seem to carry over without any changes, and the badges remain under wraps.

Review: Does The 2019 Vauxhall Insignia Grand Sport Deliver Better Value-For-Money Than Its Rivals?

Nothing seems to have changed on the inside, although Opel should update the infotainment system and give customers new upholstery options.

The white prototype on the other hand is the 2020 Insignia GSi. The sporty model rides a tad closer to the road and adds redesigned front and rear bumpers, dual exhaust pipes, larger wheels and red Brembo brake calipers.

Powering the outgoing Insignia GSi is a 210 PS (207 hp / 154 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque 2.0-liter diesel, and a 260 PS (256 hp / 191 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) 2.0-liter petrol unit, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, it’s unknown whether these engines will carry over.

Still, the refreshed Insignia lineup might actually get new PSA units that will replace some of the outgoing mills designed by GM. A plug-in hybrid powertrain could also be in the cards.
