The Aston Martin Valkyrie is one of the most intriguing performance cars that we expect to hit our streets, and YouTuber MrJWW recently had the exclusive opportunity to get up-close with the sole running prototype in existence.

In recent months, Aston Martin has been testing the Valkyrie at the Silverstone circuit in the UK. The prototype is finished in an intriguing orange and dark blue livery celebrating the involvement of Red Bull Racing in the project. In this clip, we’re not only offered the chance to see what it’s like to be behind the wheel of the car but also learn the Valkyrie’s secrets thanks to the chief engineer for Aston Martin’s special projects, Fraser Dunn, walking us through the car.

The Valkyrie prototype is the exact same car that was displayed to the world at March’s Geneva Motor Show, although now it is fully equipped with all of its complex powertrain systems.

A Hypercar Like No Other: Hear The Aston Martin Valkyrie’s V12 In All Its High-Revving Glory

Aerodynamics is one of the areas set to help the Valkyrie establish a new performance benchmark in the hypercar niche. Rather than relying on huge wings, like the McLaren Senna, for example, the Valkyrie gets most of its downforce from ground effect thanks to the massive venturi tunnels beneath the car.

Powering the Valkyrie is a 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 from Cosworth that revs to 11,200 rpm and delivers 1,000 hp and 545 lb-ft (740 Nm) of torque, making it the most powerful naturally-aspirated road car ever. Working alongside the engine will be an electric motor and battery pack developed by Rimac and Integral Powertrain that adds 160 hp and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque.
