This is the Gagliardi Vex, a mid-engined convertible that looks like it has escaped from the virtual roads of Grand Theft Auto and you could become its next caretaker.

According to the ad on Ebay, you’ll need $65,000 to get your name on the title of the very first and only one Gagliardi Rex in the world, which is one impressive way of chopping and redressing a Porsche 987 Boxster.

Unlike most custom rebodied creations out there, the Rex features a bespoke bodywork made out of sheet metal -not fiberglass- while the chassis of the Boxster was stretched by 12 inches (305 mm) with an extra section being welded in right behind the seats.

The Gagliardi Vex is also 80 inches wide (2,03 m) and 44 inches (1.11 m) tall, making it look very much like an exotic supercar. In addition, the wheels measure 20 inches in diameter while the Boxster’s folding fabric top has been removed in favor of a removable hard top that can be stored behind the seats when not in use.

The builder kept all the Porsche oily bits and electrical architecture intact, meaning that everything on this custom creation should work as good as in a used 987 Boxster.

It’s usually pretty easy to make fun of replica cars that usually look atrocious by a mile away but in the case of the Gagliardi Vex, the fit and finish doesn’t look bad while the one-off design has correct proportions and, dare we say, striking presence?
