Ford Focus RS Mk2 Gets Some Fine Tuning From JMS

For an 11-year old car, the second generation Ford Focus RS still has enough supporters to justify bringing out new upgrades for it, on a constant basis.

Depending on the budget and what one wants to improve, there are numerous companies that would take on the job of making your Focus RS Mk2 more powerful or flamboyant, with the latest offering coming from JMS.

The German tuner chose to keep it simple by addressing the wheels and suspension. As a result, it’s now fitted with 8.5×19-inch rims, wrapped in 235/35 tires, and features new coilovers that have dropped the height by 45 mm (1.8 in) at the front and 35 mm (1.4 in) at the rear. Further work took place under the hood, although not for more power, as JMS upgraded the engine with new silicone hoses.

Upon request, they can look on their shelves for other aftermarket components, including new exhaust systems and sports air filters, among others.

Without those, the 2.5-liter inline-five engine, sourced from Volvo, pumps out 305 PS (301 HP / 224 kW) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque. It’s paired to a six-speed manual gearbox that directs the output to the front wheels, having a claimed 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint of 5.9 seconds and a 263 km/h (163 mph) max speed without any mods.

While hot hatch enthusiasts continue to enjoy the older iterations of the car, Ford has reportedly delayed the new Focus RS for 2022 or 2023. When it arrives, it could be electrified, getting a PHEV powertrain with at least 400 HP and AWD, as it plans to go rival the Mercedes-AMG A45 S and Audi RS3 Sportback.
