The BMW 3.0 CSL IMSA ‘Batmobile’ is one of the most iconic racing cars ever built by the German car manufacturer and these renderings depict what one could look like if it was converted for road use.

BMW only ever manufactured 5 examples of its most insane 3.0 CSL IMSA model and first started racing it during the 1973 season. The car came outfitted with absolutely remarkable wings and splitters, hence the ‘Batmobile’ nickname. A road-going version was built but it featured far more restrained looks. Not so the road variant pictured.

This car comes from the mind of designer Khyzyl Saleem and retains most of the same aerodynamics parts as the race car but does without the racing livery.

The front of the car is what initially strikes you thanks to a bumper and splitter package that sits just a few millimeters off the road. Also featured are a set of modern LED headlights to make the car a little more appropriate for road use.

One of the most striking aspects of the Batmobile were its flared front and rear wheel arches and this street version maintains these arches and slots in a set of aftermarket BBS-style wheels with a deep dish design. Then we come to the rear where the car sports the same towering wing of the race car as well as a set of tow hooks and distinctive taillights.

A car like this makes vehicles like the M2 and M8 seem rather restrained.
