This Volvo, recently shared across Reddit and appearing to reside somewhere in the Middle East, might just be the ugliest and most bizarre car we’ve ever seen to wear a Volvo badge.

It is claimed that this started out life as a Volvo 240, a bland mid-size sedan that Volvo manufactured between 1974 and 1993. The owner of this particular example clearly wanted to stand out from the crowd and has fitted an odd array of exterior modifications.

At the front, it’s obvious that some inspiration has been taken from the Rolls-Royce Phantom. Most notably, there is a massive grille finished in black and featuring vertical slats and a huge red Volvo badge. There are also rectangular headlights very similar to those of the Phantom. Completing the alterations made at the front is a new bumper with slim LED daytime running lights.

The sides are equally as odd. Rather than fitting extended side skirts that match the front and rear bumpers, the owner appears to have made no alterations to the sides, albeit for the fitment of aftermarket wheels and black door handles. Spin around to the rear and you will find taillights that look to have been lifted off an R32-generation Nissan Skyline as well as a pair of twin tailpipes and a voluptuous bumper.

Completing the modifications is a bright blue paint scheme.

While the finished product looks incredibly odd, it’s not as though the Volvo 240 was ever a particularly good-looking car so at least this example is unique.
