MG teased the Cyberster concept last month, but it appears the company’s upcoming electric sports car will actually be a coupe.

Seen here in these apparent patent images, the pictures show a sporty coupe that features an enclosed grille and LED headlights.

Moving further back, there’s a rakish windscreen and a long flowing roof. The model also has muscular rear fenders, flush-mounted door handles and sporty side skirts.

Out back, there’s distinctive taillights that appear to echo those used on the E-Motion concept. We can also see a rear diffuser and ‘missing’ exhaust tips. The latter seems to indicate the model will indeed be an electric vehicle.

Interestingly, the car has little in common with the Cyberster concept aside from a vaguely familiar front fascia. However, it’s possible the electric roadster was designed to help build hype for the upcoming coupe.

Regardless, Autocar suggests the coupe could go into production as early as next year. That shouldn’t be too surprising as MG officials had previously said the E-Motion concept could spawn a production model around 2020.

A lot has changed since the E-Motion debuted in 2017, but the concept featured an electric powertrain which allowed the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than four seconds. The model was also tipped to have a range in excess of 310 miles (498 km).

While a lot of questions remain, it’s possible we could learn more about the coupe when the Cyberster concept is officially introduced.
