Lamborghini’s Brutal SCV12 Looks Like A Wild Ride

Prior to the Lamborghini SCV12’s global premiere, the racing division of the Italian marque has released a thrilling on-board video from the cabin of the prototype while testing at Imola.

Behind the wheel of the SCV12 during the development drive was racer Emanuele Pirro and, despite how limited and expensive the car is expected to be, he was more than happy to take it by the scruff of the neck and push it to its limits. The thrilling video was filmed with a camera either strapped to Pirro’s helmet or perhaps his chest.

Responsible for development of the track-only special is Lamborghini’s Squadra Corse racing division. While in recent months it was speculated the car would be based around the Aventador, it has since been confirmed it will feature an all-new carbon fiber chassis designed by Squadra Corse.

In addition, the car features pushrod rear suspension mounted directly on the transmission, as well as magnesium alloy wheels with custom Pirelli slicks.

Sitting behind the cabin will be a modified version of Lamborghini’s flagship 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine that thanks to the utilization of ram air induction provided by a roof scoop, will produce in excess of 830 hp at high speeds.

Aerodynamics will also play a key role in the car, so much so that Lamborghini says it will deliver more downforce that a GT3 racing car. Key elements resulting in such impressive levels of downforce will be a bespoke front end with a striking splitter and winglets on the sides. The car will also sport a towering rear wing and a massive diffuser.
