Several undisguised pictures of the Volkswagen Tiguan X have surfaced online.

Set to be introduced in China later this year, the Tiguan X is a stylish crossover coupe that has a front fascia which closely resembles the one used on the facelifted Tiguan.

Of course, that’s where the similarities end as the Tiguan X has a more rakish windscreen which flows into a gently sloping roof. The model also has a sportier greenhouse, an steeply raked rear window and new bodywork.

Bigger changes occur out back as there’s a new liftgate with an integrated spoiler. The model also has a unique rear bumper and new taillights which are connected by a thin illuminated strip.

Overall, the model reportedly measures 185.6 inches (4764 mm) long, 73.2 inches (1859 mm) wide and 64.1 inches (1628 mm) tall with a wheelbase that spans 109.9 inches (2791 mm). That means the crossover coupe is roughly the same size as the Tiguan Allspace, but 2.2 inches (56 mm) lower.

The Tiguan X will reportedly be built by SAIC Volkswagen and offered with two different turbocharged 2.0-liter TSI petrol engines. The entry-level unit is slated to produce 184 hp (137 PS / 186 PS), while high output version should have 217 hp (182 kW / 220 PS).

It remains unclear if the Tiguan X will be offered outside of China, but it could be an interesting addition to the company’s lineup.
