2021 Nissan Murano Gets More Expensive Thanks To New Safety Kit As Standard

Nissan has announced the details of the 2021 Murano, which has been updated with more safety systems now fitted as standard, as well as three new exterior color options.

For the 2021 model year, the Murano now offers Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 package as standard across the range, including the class-exclusive Rear Automatic Braking system.

In addition, Nissan has replaced the previous SV Premium Package with the new Special Edition Package, which is priced at $2,530 and adds features like the Dual Panel Moonroof, Intelligent Around View Monitor, seats upholstered in Prima-Tex, front heated seats, and a set of 20-inch Dark Charcoal alloy wheels. An 8-inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is offered as standard across the range.

However, adding more safety equipment as standard made the 2021 Murano more expensive, with prices now starting from $32,510 in its base S FWD form, not including the $1,095 destination and handling fees – a $980 increase over last year’s model. The new exterior colors are Magnetic Black Pearl, Boulder Gray Pearl and Scarlet Ember Tintcoat, while the 2021 Murano lineup consists of four trim levels: S, SV, SL, and Platinum.

Nissan didn’t make any changes under the Murano’s skin, which means it’s still powered by a 3.5-liter V6 producing 260 HP and 240 lb-ft (325 Nm) of torque that is paired to an Xtronic CVT transmission. All-wheel-drive is available in all trim levels for a $1,550 premium.
