2022 BMW 2-Series Active Tourer Getting Ready To Tackle The Mercedes B-Class

The upcoming BMW 2-Series Active Tourer has been spied testing under a thick veil of camouflage yet again prior to its expected debut later this year.

BMW will position the 2-Series Active Tourer as a direct rival to the Mercedes-Benz B-Class and we know that it will sit on the same UKL2 platform as the X1, X2, and 1-Series. While the overall shape of the car won’t be to everyone’s taste, it will be clearly identifiable as a 2-Series and could prove popular among those looking for a practical and relatively compact vehicle without buying one of BMWs crossovers or SUVs.

These spy shots of the car reveal striking headlights with sharp LED daytime running lights. There is also a large kidney grille, although much smaller than the M3 and M4, and complete with black vertical slats. A secondary and more traditional grille is located further down on the fascia.

A look at the 2-Series Active Tourer from the side reveals that it has quite small front and rear overhangs and should offer plenty of cabin space, thanks in no small part to the high roofline. We can also see that this prototype is rocking a set of black wheels (which are unlikely to be production units) and a lip spoiler stretching off from the roof. The vehicle’s LED taillight graphics are also visible.

Spy shots from back in mid-2020 revealed that the interior of the car is going to be heavily inspired by the iX. Immediately catching the eye will be a large curved display that encompasses two screens, the first a digital instrument cluster and the second a large infotainment system that includes the HVAC controls, eliminating most buttons and switches from the dashboard.
