We always love to see a good story of a regular everyday car that has been incredibly well-preserved. And with this pair of Lincoln Continentals, that’s exactly the case.

Listed for sale on Mecum Auctions, this matching set of two- and four-door 1979 Continentals have, essentially, delivery miles. The Mark V has 10 miles on its odo, and the Town Car sedan just 7!

Both feature a mustard-colored Cream paint, as well as Gold interior. The cars are also mechanically identical, with both having a 6.6-liter V8 engine with 166 hp (168 PS / 124 kW) and 319 lb-ft (433 Nm) of torque mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission.

As we can see in the original sales bills that are included in the auction, in 1979, the sedan Continental as configured cost the buyer $17,717 and the two-door model, $16,251. According to the U.S. bureau of statistics’ inflation calculator, that would be around $62,000 and $67,600 in today’s money.

Naturally, these cars’ existence begs a few interesting questions. Who orders the coupe and sedan versions of the same car? Who orders them in matching specs? And why keep them at such low mileage? Maybe the original owner figured they’d be collector items, though that’s a far fetch.
