McLaren has announced through its dedicated website that the Artura, its all-new V6 hybrid supercar that will replace the Sports Series, will be unveiled virtually on February 16 at 7 PM EST.

The Artura will be based on an entirely new platform, named the McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA). It will also be the company’s first series-production hybrid (the P1 was a limited run) and its lightweight architecture will make up for the weight of the batteries, with the car apparently weighing only 30 to 40 kg (66 to 88 lbs ) more than its predecessor.

The hybrid system will combine a twin-turbocharged V6 with an electric motor, and McLaren have used what they’ve learned from the P1 and their Formula One program to develop the drivetrain. The system’s total output is expected to be north of 600 hp, and the Artura will allegedly be able to travel about 20 miles on electric power alone, although this hasn’t been confirmed yet.

We’ve already seen McLaren’s new supercar in camouflage, and from what we can discern, it won’t be drastically different to the current Sport Series, but it will incorporate some design cues from the company’s more recent models. Think somewhere in between the 570S and 720S, with recessed headlights, triangular air intakes, and thin taillight strips.

The Artura is reportedly slated to go on sale sometime in the first half of the year.

H/T to Motor1!
