Renault has revealed the upcoming all-electric Megane E-Tech crossover in its pre-production form and covered by a camouflage wrap.

The new Renault Megane E-Tech Electric was previewed by last year’s Megane eVision concept and is the first Renault to use the Alliance’s modular CMF-EV platform, which also underpins the Nissan Ariya.

Renault didn’t reveal many technical details of the new Megane E-Tech Electric (which is also going to be called the MeganE) but did say that its latest EV will employ a 214 HP electric motor fed by a 60 kWh battery pack, targetting a driving range of up to 280 miles (450 km) on the WLTP test cycle.

We don’t know yet if Renault is planning to offer a dual-motor version of the new MeganE electric crossover, like Nissan does with the range-topping Nissan Ariya, which offers a combined 302 HP and a bigger 87 kWh battery pack.

The French carmaker is now going to build 30 pre-production examples of the new electric Megane, all of which will feature the same patterned wrap that was created by the Renault Design team, in order to test them on public roads this summer.

The new electric crossover model was teased in early May, revealing a portion of its rear end and of its dashboard displays, with Renault promising  “high-tech on-board systems and top-of-the-line screens.”

The new Renault Megane E-Tech Electric will be produced at the carmaker’s Duai factory in France and is expected to debut in its final production form next year.
