An intriguing image has emerged online of a mysterious, hardcore variant of the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

This image was shared online by Jalopnik after being pulled from a page on the Aston Martin website. The page was marked as ‘Confidential’ but was available to the public for a short time before being removed. It shows a Valkyrie that isn’t just more insane than the standard, road-going model but is also more extreme than the track-only Valkyrie AMR Pro that was previewed three years ago.

The car benefits from a plethora of aerodynamic modifications. For example, it features a more pronounced carbon fiber splitter and the front wheel arches have also been modified to be more prominent and feature more aggressive aerodynamic bodywork. The hypercar also has fixed wing mirrors whereas the road car and the AMR Pro variant use cameras instead of mirrors.

Elsewhere, this Valkyrie features aero covers on the wheels and sports a bespoke rear wing and shark fin to significantly increase downforce.

It’s hard to know just what Aston Martin is planning with this model and unsurprisingly, its reps are refusing to comment. We think the presence of fixed wing mirrors is quite telling as the only reason Aston Martin would be using them is to comply with the regulations of a racing series. The logical explanation is that this Valkyrie is a car that Aston Martin intends on racing in the Le Mans Hypercar series but last year, the British automaker axed plans to race the Valkyrie in the series. Has it had a change of heart? Only time will tell.
