Lincoln is planning to electrify its entire lineup by 2030 and it appears spy photographers have caught one of the brand’s upcoming electric vehicles.

Spied undergoing testing in the United States, this mysterious mule wears the body of a Ford Mustang Mach-E but features a number of modifications. The most noticeable is the increased ride height, which suggests the vehicle previews something a bit more rugged than the electric pony car.

The changes don’t stop there as the mule features wider rear fender flares and underbody camouflage. Unfortunately, that doesn’t tell us much about the vehicle.

However, Ford used their Capital Markets Day presentation to preview their upcoming RWD / AWD BEV Flexible Architecture. It will be used to underpin active lifestyle vehicles, cargo vehicles, mid-size trucks, rugged SUVs as well as 2- and 3-row crossovers. Among the latter will be electric versions of the Explorer and Lincoln Aviator.

Given that, it’s reasonable to assume the mule is based on the new architecture.  However, it’s hard to be certain and we can’t be absolutely sure the mystery model is actually a Lincoln.

That being said, Lincoln will introduce their first fully electric vehicle next year. It’s expected to be based on the Mustang Mach-E, although the luxury brand has previously said the new RWD / AWD BEV Flexible Architecture will eventually underpin four electric vehicles.
