Peugeot Design Lab collaborated with Whirlpool for the creation of a foodtruck based on the Peugeot Expert van. The vehicle is a follow-up to the 2015 “Le Bistrot du Lion” concept and is inspired by the world of bistros and gastronomy.

The end result looks more like an outdoor kitchen featuring Whirlpool’s latest appliances from the W Collection. Peugeot used the long-wheelbase Expert as a base, which measures 5.3 m (208.6 inches) long and 1.9 m (74.8 inches) tall. The titanium gray van was converted by the BCC company, with a huge gullwing-style door on the profile revealing the kitchen area.

A large U-shaped worktop is positioned in front of the truck providing enough space for the chefs to do their magic. The fronts and the worktop are made of a white Italian ceramic featuring an “antibacterial, odorless and easy to clean surface” and have brass inserts. The chef, protected by an integrated shelter, has access to a sink, a hob, plenty of storage space, and two steam ovens.

At the back, there is a retractable screen and a soundbar under the rear hatch for broadcasting tutorials and promotional material. If the long-wheelbase truck wasn’t enough, there is an additional trailer housing the refrigerator which is powered by a solar panel, plus some extra accessories.

The vehicle will support the Whirlpool Experience Tour starting from April 2022 in France. Later on, the company plans to order more examples of the custom van for demonstration purposes in Italy, Poland, and the UK.
