Yes, you read that title correctly: this is not a Batmobile that starred in a Hollywood blockbuster and is instead a replica based on a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado.
One of the stars of Mecum’s forthcoming Indy sales event running from May 13-21, the owner of this Eldorado has crafted a Batmobile replica that looks like the spitting image of the vehicle that was used for 1989’s Batman, back when Michael Keaton served as the lead actor. This iteration of the Batmobile is one of the most recognizable and to this day, still looks fitting for the caped crusader.

The Mecum listing doesn’t provide all that many details about the replica but we suspect the vast majority of its parts were built be hand. After all, you can’t exactly walk into your local AutoZone and find the parts to transform an Eldorado into a Batmobile. Everything of the original 1989 creation is there, including the large fan at the front, the elongated bodywork, the compact cockpit, and the huge fins incorporated into the rear bodywork. Adorning the exterior of the car is a shade of matte black just like the real thing.
The interior has also been overhauled. Gone is the original Eldorado dashboard and in its place sits a completely bespoke dash complete with a dizzying array of analog dials, switches, and buttons. There’s even a small screen as the car has been equipped with a reversing camera.
Powering the Batmobile replica is a 502 cubic-inch Cadillac V8 driving the front wheels and while the car is functional, we suspect that the winning bidder will probably use it as a museum piece.
