Jaguar is in the midst of a radical transformation that will see it launch three electric SUVs in the second half of the decade amidst a push into a luxurious new segment of the market. It does have some combustion engined projects up its sleeve, however.

During a recent interview with Autocar, Jaguar Land Rover vehicle boss Nick Collins revealed that the automaker will launch a number of special variants of its existing products before it goes all-electric. These will include a special version of the F-Type.

“You’ve seen our recent F-Pace SVR Edition 1988 we will do more like that, including with the XF and XE, which will be back soon,” he said. “And next year we will celebrate 75 years of Jaguar sports cars by doing something special with the F-Type. It will be our last-ever V8 sports car. Maybe it will be like the old Defender and have a bumper year.”

While Collins didn’t provide any more details about this version of the F-Type, it is safe to assume that it will have a limited production run and in addition to being the firm’s last V8 sports car, could be adorned with a number of unique features and accents. Will it be as radical as the F-Type Project 7 from nine years ago? Only time will tell.

As it stands, the Jaguar F-Type is only sold in the United States with a V8, meaning the old four-cylinder and V6s are no longer available. In standard form, the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 is good for 444 hp and 428 lb-ft (580 Nm) of torque. Shoppers can order the F-Type P450 in either rear- or all-wheel drive. Those looking for more power can opt for the F-Type R that has a tuned version of this engine delivering 575 hp and 516 lb-ft (699 Nm) of torque.
