Acura today released a short video clip providing us with a sneak peek at an upcoming electric concept vehicle named the Precision EV.

Calling it the “future of Acura design,” the brand explained that it will preview the aesthetics of its cars for the electric era. Revealing little else, we will have to wait until August 18, when the concept vehicle makes its world premiere at Monterey Car Week, to find out more.

In the clip, the color blue appears to have been chosen to signify electric propulsion, and the hue can be seen emanating from the emblem across a light-up grille. Though strictly speaking, not a grille, it is highly reminiscent of Acura‘s current, admittedly handsome, design language.

While not much of the vehicle is shown in the clip, it would appear to be an SUV, which makes sense, as Acura is working on an electric crossover based on General Motors’ Ultium EV platform.

The company is said to be skipping the next plug-in hybrid phase through which Honda will go, and a trademark application suggests that the production version of the vehicle may be called the ADX, which would fit in neatly with the rest of the automaker’s lineup.

The Precision EV Concept will preview the Acura’s future, with some reports suggest that the Integra was the last new ICE vehicle it would be introducing. Whether or not that’s accurate, Acura has made clear that it plans to transition to EVs “very rapidly,” and expects 50 percent of its sales to come from fully electric vehicles by 2030.

Both Honda’s Prologue and Acura’s as of yet, unnamed EV will be based on GM’s Ultium platform being about the same size as the Cadillac Lyriq and will be built at GM’s facilities in North America. In the Cadillac Lyriq, a premium crossover based on the same platform, the chassis can contain a 102 kWh battery pack that allows the vehicle to travel up to 312 miles (502 km).
