The E30 M3 furor is still raging and lightly used examples, like this 38,000-mile (61,155 km) model that is being sold on Bring a Trailer, can command impressive prices. In fact, this example already has.

Sold just in 2020 on the auction site, at the time it was bought for $100,000 by its current owner who, two years and a thousand miles (1,600 km) later, is selling it again. It will be interesting, then, to see how the price changes over time.

Still painted in Diamond Black metallic, the car now wears 17-inch Style 42 wheels, unlike the factory BBS 15-inch basket weave wheels it was sold with in 2020. It also has a few stone chips on upfront, which is by no means unexpected for a car that was made in 1989.

Otherwise, it appears to be in roughly the same condition that it was a couple of years ago. In that time, according to Bring a Trailer‘s sales charts, prices for E30 M3s have been rising, albeit gently.

In 2020, just four examples sold for more than $100,000, whereas the next year it was six, and, so far in 2022, seven have sold for six figures, and some with more miles on the odometer than this one.

It may, then, prove to have been a savvy purchase by the seller, who got to drive a dream car for not much money. Still powered by a 2.3-liter S14 inline four that was rated at 192 hp (142 kW/193 PS) and 170 lb-ft (230 Nm) of torque, this person may be living the enthusiast fantasy. That is, of course, presuming that this owner hasn’t shaved too much of the value off in their time with the car in their time with it.
