Haas has just unveiled the livery for their 2023 Formula 1 car, called VF-23, giving us a look at the first of the ten different cars populating this year’s grid.

It’s worth noting that this is just a livery reveal (to avoid giving away details of their car to the competition), and as such, the car used to display it is just a show car. For the real deal, we’ll have to wait until the shakedown at Silverstone on February 11 (or pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 23-25), and even then, the car could still change before the start of the first race in Bahrain on March 5.

Piloting the VF-23 will be the experienced duo of Kevin Magnussen and Nico Hulkenberg. The latter will be replacing Mick Schumacher, who has since found a new role as a Mercedes reserve driver after Haas let him go this past season.

The car dons a new take on Haas’ signature white, black, and red color scheme, which is now primarily black compared to last year’s predominantly white VF-22. The top surfaces of the front and rear wings are painted red, and red accents run along the edges of the livery’s white sections. One final touch of red comes in the form of rings around the center of the black wheel covers. Overall, we’re big fans of the design, and we’d imagine the large amount of black leaves Haas the option to go with unpainted carbon as a weight-saving measure.

“I obviously share everyone’s enthusiasm around the livery unveil, not least as it’s a checkpoint in the pre-season calendar which means we’re another step closer to doing the thing we actually want to be doing – and that’s go racing,” said Haas F1 Team Principal Guenther Steiner. “I like the livery, it’s undoubtedly a more elevated and modernized look which is fitting as we move into a new era alongside MoneyGram as our title partner.”
