A host of new images showing the cabin of the GAC Aion Hyper GT have been released after the car made its debut at last year’s Guangzhou Auto Show.

The Chinese automaker released the first images of the Aion Hyper GT’s interior last week but they were renderings. These are real-life photos and reveal a cabin that looks modern and surprisingly luxurious.

The overall design of the cabin is quite minimalist but certainly not as simple as the Tesla Model 3, for example. Immediately catching the eye is a massive central infotainment screen that’s been positioned horizontally, just like the latest Tesla models. GAC has also opted to use a digital instrument cluster but rather than installing the cluster right above the steering column and in line with the infotainment screen, as with most cars, the screen has been pushed back to near the front of the windshield.

Elsewhere, you will notice the Aion Hyper GT has a prominent floating center console that appears to have two wireless smartphone chargers and a large storage cubby. An oval-shaped steering wheel with Tesla-like thumb control is also featured, as are plenty of piano black surfaces on the door panels.

The front seats of the sedan look great and appear to offer plenty of support. We can also see plenty of soft-touch leather adorning most interior panels. GAC has confirmed that the car has no less than 23 speakers supporting Dolbo Atmos and that there are even speakers in the front headrests. Customers will be able to order an interior with either a white silver finish, dark gray, or in bright yellow.

“The concept of ‘man-machine symbiosis aesthetics’ provides our users with a car experience in which people and natural technology coexist harmoniously, constantly merging and evolving,” vice president of GAC’s R&D Center, Fan Zhang said. “We emphasize the co-existence of man and machine. Based on that, we want to build a benign relationship between man and the space inside the car. It is not a tool space, but a mobile living space, so we should pay attention to its comfort, humanistic atmosphere, and beauty.”

Powering the Aion Hyper GT is a rear-mounted electric motor with 335 hp and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque. GAC says the car can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.0 seconds.
