The fourth generation of the Skoda Superb flagship will be unveiled in autumn 2023, coinciding with the 90-year anniversary of the original. The Czech automaker gathered all of the past Superb iterations in a new teaser video, alongside the upcoming model which remains under wraps.

The footage comes one week after Skoda teased the silhouettes of the Superb and the Kodiaq. The new flagship appears in both Hatchback and Combi bodystyle flavors, hiding under a green cover. Still, we get a better idea of its proportions, size, and shape, at a direct comparison with its predecessors.

The 2024 Superb has familiar proportions but adopts sharper surfacing as suggested by the character lines on the profile leading to the pronounced shoulders. The roofline of the three-box Hatchback appears to be more heavily inclined than before, while the silhouette of the Combi (estate) is also sleeker.

Skoda produced only 900 civilian and 1,600 military versions of the original Superb between 1934 and 1949. On the contrary, the modern iterations of the nameplate have sold more than 1,550,000 units since 2001. The reborn Skoda flagship serves as a solid value-for-money proposal in the upper-mid-class segment and utilizes the VW Group parts bin. The first-gen appeared in 2001, with the second following in 2008 and the third in 2015.

The new Suberb is expected to ride on an improved version of the MQB architecture as the last ICE-powered generation, albeit with a greater focus on electrification. Skoda has officially confirmed that the new model will be offered with efficient petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid powertrains while bringing technological innovations. The 2024 Skoda Superb will be produced in Bratislava, Slovakia, alongside the closely-related but estate-only VW Passat which is also expected to arrive soon.
