First responders in Williamston, South Carolina recently had to respond to a rather bizarre incident that saw a car crash into a large Dollar Tree store. Unsurprisingly, that car just so happened to be a Ford Mustang.

The accident happened on the evening of June 12 and while it would be easy to assume that the Mustang crashed while trying to do a burnout, the driver told officers from the Williamston Police Department that she was reversing into a parking space at a neighboring Subway when the car’s accelerator got stuck.

Images shared online by the Williamston Fire Department as well as various other social media users show that the dark grey Mustang Convertible busted through the glass doors of the store and knocked down a host of shelves. It’s difficult to ascertain how much damage was done to the Ford but that should be the least of the owner’s worries. They should be more concerned about how much their insurance premiums are going to rise.

Fortunately, no one inside or outside the store, nor the driver, were injured in the crash.

While it’s easy to poke fun at crashes like these, they seem to happen quite often. In many cases, parking accidents are caused by drivers mistaking the brake and throttle pedals. If it’s true that the accelerator got stuck on this Mustang, then that’s really unfortunate for the driver and underlines the importance of always keeping a vehicle well-maintained to help avoid incidents like these.
