Volkswagen has announced plans to stage a mysterious “world premiere” on September 19.

The automaker is keeping details under wraps, but released a short teaser video of a woman checking her calendar. It doesn’t raise too many eyebrows, but there are mentions of “fast charging” and a “worldwide” debut next week.

While the company is playing coy, the mystery model is likely the redesigned Tiguan. That remains to be seen, but Volkswagen has teased the crossover on multiple occasions and has already confirmed it will debut this fall.

We have already seen lightly disguised prototypes as well as undisguised pictures of the crossover. The latter showed the model will have a curvaceous front end with slender headlights that appear to be connected by an illuminated bar. They’re joined by vertical air curtains and a wide central intake.

Moving further back, there’s flowing bodywork with soft curves. Designers have also given the model an upward sweeping beltline and plastic body cladding. We can also expect a full-width light bar out back.

Volkswagen has already given us a look inside and the cabin follows in the footsteps of the redesigned Passat Variant. As a result, we can likely expect a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch infotainment system. We can also expect a 15-inch display as an option.

Other highlights will include a revamped center console, a relocated shifter, and a rotary controller with a “mini-screen” that can be used to select drive modes, adjust the volume, and even change the color of the ambient lighting system. The automaker has also said we can expect a new acoustic package, ergoActive front seats, and an increased cargo capacity of 23 cubic feet (652 liters).

The crossover will ride on the MQB evo platform and be offered with hybrid, plug-in hybrid, petrol, and diesel powertrains. A number of them will likely be shared with the Passat and choices could include a 1.5-liter TSI with 174 hp (130 kW / 177 PS). We can also expect a plug-in hybrid variant with a 62 mile (100 km) electric-only range.

While the teaser mentions “worldwide,” previous reports have suggested this version of the Tiguan will only be offered in certain markets like Europe. However, we can expect to learn more next week.
