- Chevrolet’s new Corvette ZR1X is expected to start around $250,000.
- That kind of money can buy genuine supercars and collectible models.
The new Corvette ZR1X is fast. Like, really fast. In fact, no factory-built ‘Vette designed for public roads has ever been as capable as this one. But, spoiler alert; no Corvette has ever been as expensive either. We don’t know the exact price just yet, but a minimum $250,000 price tag is looking pretty likely.

One thing worth mentioning is that GM has described the ZR1X as a “true American hypercar.” Whether that claim holds up is up for debate, but the performance numbers are hard to ignore. With 1,250 horsepower, a zero-to-60 mph time of under 2.0 seconds, and a standing quarter-mile run in fewer than 9.0 seconds, the data definitely backs up the hype.
If the pricing rumors hold up, you’d be getting hypercar-level performance for entry-level supercar money, all wrapped in something that’s far less glamorous. So here’s the real question of the day: would you spend that much on a ‘Vette if given the chance?
Let’s take a quick look at what $250,000 can actually get you on the new-car market. Of course, these prices are purely hypothetical, since dealers will almost certainly add markups to pretty much every car on this list. That is, unless GM gets serious about holding the line, but we’re not exactly holding our breath here.
If you’re looking for a single car that delivers incredible performance, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is definitely worth considering. Sure, it loses to the Vette in just about every performance-related statistic. And it might very well end up slower on just about every track, but set that aside briefly.
We’re talking about a car that is clearly well-loved on the second-hand market. Many high-end Porsches appreciate in value, and most of them have a reputation for blending everyday drivability with hardcore track manners. That could be hard to turn down in favor of a totally new and unproven Corvette trim.
Buyers might also be tempted by something with a flashier badge. Cars like the Aston Martin DB12, McLaren Artura, Mercedes-Maybach SL-Class, and Ferrari Roma all fall in the $250,000-$275,000 range.
Sure, none of these will keep up with the ZR1X on a track, but they will certainly turn heads in ways that a Corvette might not. That said, it’s worth considering what one could have if they spent cash on more than a single car. A Corvette ZR1 starts at $175,000. That leaves an extra $75,000 to play around with.
Assuming a buyer opts for more than the base ZR1X, they might still have enough room in their budget for a ZR1 parked next to a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. To me, that’s probably the perfect garage setup. So, what’s your move? ZR1X or something else? Cast your vote and let us know in the comments below!
