The original Stargazer debuted in 2022, followed by the crossover-style Stargazer X in 2023. But Hyundai figured it was already time for a makeover, giving the lineup a sharper identity that sets it apart from the larger, spaceship-like Staria. The new “Cartenz” name comes from Puncak Cartenz, Indonesia’s tallest mountain.
Sharper Design, More Presence
The big change in this mid-cycle update is up front, where a longer hood breaks up the original one-box silhouette and gives the van a bit more presence. The old split headlights are gone, replaced by a more traditional setup with single units and distinctive LED fangs. The grille has grown noticeably — especially on the Cartenz X — and now pairs with chunkier bumper intakes that dial up the visual weight.
From the side, the familiar profile remains, though the Cartenz X adds rugged flair with plastic cladding around the wheel arches and taller roof rails. At the rear, a redesigned bumper integrates the license plate, replacing the former tailgate-mounted setup. Slimmer LED taillights complete the update with a more modern look.
The Stargazer Cartenz measures 4,575 mm (180.1 inches) in length, while the Cartenz X stretches slightly longer at 4,610 mm (181.5 inches). That’s a 115 mm (4.5 inches) increase over the previous versions. Despite the added length, the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,780 mm (109.4 inches), and ground clearance is still a respectable 205 mm (8.1 inches).

The color palette includes Creamy White Pearl, Midnight Black Pearl, Magnetic Silver Metallic, and Titan Gray Metallic shades, plus the optional Gravity Gold Matte and Optic White Matte which are exclusive to the Stargazer Cartenz X. As for the wheels, they measure 16 or 17 inches depending on the trim.
Three-Row Cabin
Inside, the cabin benefits from a more cohesive digital layout. A redesigned dashboard better integrates the screens, and the climate controls have been updated for easier use. The Cartenz X trim also includes Shift-by-Wire technology, which removes the traditional gear lever and frees up center console space.

The minivan comes standard with seven seats arranged on three rows, while the optional Captain Seat configuration turns it into a six-seater. The interior is all black, although the flagship trim also gets a beige option. Equipment can include a ventilated and electrically adjustable driver’s seat, wireless charging, built-in navigation, a Bose sound system, Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
No Change Under the Hood
Despite the visual overhaul, the mechanical setup stays the same. Both models continue with a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 113 hp (85 kW / 115 PS) and 144 Nm (106 lb-ft) of torque. Power goes to the front wheels via a six-speed manual or CVT.
The platform is a stretched version shared with the Kia Carens and Carens Clavis minivans, as well as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos SUVs.
Availability And Pricing
Hyundai says the model is “tailored for Indonesian families and professionals,” but it won’t be staying local for long. The company confirmed it’ll also be exported to several international markets, with tweaks depending on regional tastes. While Indonesia handles production, the previous version already made its way to places like the Middle East, the Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, and Vietnam, so expect this one to follow a similar path.
The facelifted Stargazer made its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) and is already available to order. Pricing starts at Rp 269,900,000 ($16,600) and goes up to Rp 350,400,000 ($21,500) for the Stargazer Cartenz. The Cartenz X carries a slightly higher premium, ranging from Rp 361,900,000 to Rp 391,900,000 ($22,200 to $24,100).
While more expensive than the outgoing models, which are still available for now, the updated versions aim to justify the cost with added equipment, sharper styling, and a more polished in-cabin experience.
