• RML Group has unveiled the first production-spec example of the GT Hypercar.
  • It is based on the Porsche 911 Turbo S but features extensive modifications.
  • The GTH rocks a carbon body, height-adjustable suspension, and a 907 hp engine.

For years, Porsche’s 918 Hybrid marked the pinnacle of the brand’s hypercar ambitions, but since its retirement that space has been left conspicuously empty. Now, UK-based engineering specialists RML Group aim to fill the void with a machine of their own: the RML GT Hypercar, a radical reinterpretation of the Porsche 911 Turbo S infused with motorsport character and a heavy dose of bespoke engineering.

The GTH was first shown last year in P39 prototype form. Following the completion of development testing, the company has now unveiled the first production unit at the Salon Privé in the UK. This model is a 40th Anniversary Special Edition (SE) variant which explains the bespoke configuration.

Carbon-Sculpted Presence

While the GTH retains certain elements from the 911, including its greenhouse, mirrors, and lighting, everything else has been reimagined in carbon fiber. The flared fenders, stretched tail, and oversized aerodynamic treatment transform the familiar silhouette into something closer to a Le Mans Hypercar adapted for everyday roads.

The first example is painted in a Storm Purple shade, combined with exposed carbon fiber accents and a purple-tinted carbon finish for the roof and hood inserts. The center-lock wheels are painted Gold, with Gunmetal brake calipers hiding behind them. Finally, the Porsche-style RML shield on the nose and the GTH lettering at the back are hand-painted in gold

The interior has been retrimmed with fresh leather upholstery featuring Crayon stitching and matching seatbelts. The cabin also gets body-colored carbon inserts and a Storm Purple roll cage. Besides the bespoke touches, the SE spec includes the optional Performance and Track packages. This means it has a height-adjustable active suspension, the aforementioned roll cage, and a rear-seat delete.

Power to Match the Looks

The rear-mounted twin-turbo 3.7-liter flat-six powertrain has been extensively reworked with the help of Litchfield Motors. As a result, it generates 907 hp (680 kW / 925 PS) and over 1,000 Nm (737.6 lb-ft) of torque, elevating the supercar-killer Porsche to hypercar territory.

In total, RML wants to build 39 units of the hypercar in its Wellingborough facilities, including 10 units of the 40th Anniversary Special Edition (SE). Pricing starts from £495,000 ($665,200) excluding taxes and the cost of the donor Porsche 911 Turbo S.

The GTH is the 39th project of the engineering firm that has collaborated with various automakers since its founding year in 1984.
