Sony Honda Mobility is gearing up to launch the Afeela 1 next year and they’ve been laying a lot of groundwork behind the scenes. As the big day draws closer, the company has announced plans to introduce a pre-production model at CES.
The automaker is keeping details under wraps, but said several pre-production vehicles will be on display in various colors. The company also revealed plans to share “exciting new updates” about the EV.

We’ll learn more in the coming months, but Sony Honda Mobility has previously announced the high-tech EV will start at $89,900 and have a dual-motor all-wheel drive system producing a combined output of 483 hp (360 kW / 489 PS).
They’ll be powered by a 91 kWh battery pack, which is expected to deliver a range of up to 300 miles (483 km). The Afeela 1 will also have a native NACS charging port, although it will be limited to an underwhelming 150 kW DC fast charging capability.
The $102,900 Afeela 1 Signature will be the first out of the gate, and it will come equipped with 21-inch wheels as well as a rear seat entertainment system with dual 12.9-inch displays.
That package will sit alongside wireless smartphone chargers and a digital rearview mirror with HomeLink. Buyers can also expect a host of advanced driver assistance systems as the car is equipped with 40 sensors including cameras, radars, and Lidar.
A New Concept
While it will be interesting to learn more about the road-going model, Sony Honda Mobility also announced plans to introduce a new concept. Little is known about it, but the company said the mystery model will show their commitment to evolving the brand.
That’s not much to go on, but Sony introduced a Vision-S 02 concept in 2022. It was an electric crossover and it would make a natural addition to the Afeela lineup as cars have fallen out of favor with many consumers.
