We knew it was coming, and the day has finally arrived. Just in time for the holidays, Dodge has confirmed that the all-conquering Durango SRT Hellcat is now legal in all 50 states across the country.

To mark the occasion, Dodge rolled out a cheeky new social media campaign. In the promo clip, Santa escapes from a rural jail with help from Mrs. Claus, then makes a high-octane getaway in a Hellcat-powered Durango, shouting, “This Christmas Season, the Jailbreak is back!”

Hellcat Unleashed Nationwide

Back in August, Dodge confirmed that all 2026 Durango models would come standard with V8 power and that the Hellcat variant would live on.

At the time, however, the fire-breathing SUV was only approved for sale in non-CARB (California Air Resources Board) states. By November, Dodge had secured certification in ten CARB states, including Colorado, Minnesota, Rhode Island, and Virginia.

Now, even the stricter emissions states are on board. Shoppers in California, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Oregon, Washington, and Vermont can officially get their hands on the R/T 392 and the Hellcat. That’s right, the ultimate V8 family hauler is now a 50-state affair.

The Durango SRT Hellcat first appeared for the 2021 model year but was discontinued after just one run, thanks to its inability to meet tightening emissions standards in 2022. Fortunately, Dodge brought it back in 2023, and it’s not going anywhere this time.

Even with the current Durango platform dating back to 2010, Dodge is betting on continued demand.

“There’s no stopping the momentum the Dodge Durango is experiencing, including 14 straight months of sales growth,” said Dodge CEO Matt McAlear. “Now that the Durango SRT Hellcat is uncaged and running free in all 50 states, that momentum is going to keep growing.”
