• Dodge Dart sales rose in 2025 despite its 2016 discontinuation.
  • Fiat sold two 500Ls and Dodge moved 17 Journeys last year.
  • These zombie cars were sold years after production had ended.

Stellantis has released its full-year 2025 sales results for the States, and while the board is preoccupied with justifying a 3 percent drop from 2024, there are far more curious footnotes buried in the report.

A small number of Americans decided to put their money into new cars that haven’t been built in years, rescuing a few forgotten models from the furthest corners of dealership inventory.

Dead Models Still Find Buyers

Among the automotive relics is the Dodge Dart, a compact sedan once built on Fiat and Alfa Romeo bones. Though it exited production in 2016, six new Darts somehow found buyers in 2025. That’s a 500 percent increase over the lone unit sold the previous year, for those keeping score.

Another zombie car that came back from the dead is the Dodge Journey (2009-2020), which sold 17 units in 2025. It was joined by two examples of the Fiat 500L (2014-2020) and nine units of the ancient Dodge Grand Caravan (2008-2020). All those numbers prove that if you leave any vehicle at a dealer long enough, eventually someone will pay for it.

Unfortunately for Viper fans, sales of the V10-powered icon have finally flatlined, after a single unit was sold in 2025. However, a quick search on dealer inventories suggests that a brand-new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is still available in New Jersey, at an eye watering price of $800,000.

A Mixed Year For Stellantis

Looking past the outliers, Stellantis delivered a total of 1,260,344 vehicles in the US this year, down 3 percent from 1,303,570 in 2024. The steepest declines came from Alfa Romeo, down 36 percent, followed by Dodge at 28 percent and Fiat at 14 percent. Jeep, Ram, and Chrysler held more or less steady by comparison.

There was one bright spot. In the final quarter of 2025, Stellantis posted a 4 percent year-over-year gain, thanks to strong showings from a few key models. Sales of the Ram 1500 rose 23 percent. The Dodge Durango more than doubled, up 114 percent. Jeep’s Wagoneer grew 67 percent, while the Gladiator climbed an impressive 93 percent.

These gains come as Stellantis navigates a major product transition. Back in October, the company announced a $13 billion investment spread over four years, targeting five new vehicle launches and a 50 percent boost in domestic production.
