- Lincoln is reportedly developing a luxury off-roader.
- It may be based on the Bronco and arrive by 2030.
- A redesigned Bronco is expected to follow in 2031.
Luxury off-roaders are a hot commodity and Lexus sold 37,180 GX SUVs in the United States last year. The Land Rover Defender has also proven popular with consumers, while Infiniti is said to be working on two new body-on-frame vehicles.
Lincoln wants to get in on the action and they’re reportedly eyeing a rugged SUV based on the popular Ford Bronco. According to Autoweek, the model could be launched in 2029 or 2030.

That’s a ways off and speculation suggests the vehicle could be based on the next-generation Bronco, which will reportedly arrive in 2031. Little is known about the model at this point, but the publication said it will be a two-row body-on-frame SUV that targets the Mercedes G-Class and Land Rover Range Rover.
That seems a little far-fetched as the Bronco’s size would seemingly imply something in the Defender and GX sandbox. It’s also worth noting the 2026 Bronco ranges from $40,495 to $79,995 with the luxury-oriented Outer Banks beginning at $48,090.
Since Lincoln vehicles typically carry a $20,000 to $30,000 premium over their Ford counterparts, this implies a starting price of around $60,000 to $70,000. That’s a far cry from the G-Class, which begins at $153,900.
While the report should be taken with a grain of salt, the publication suggested the model “could affect the future of the unibody Nautilus.” It starts at $53,995 and has quickly established itself as Lincoln’s best-selling vehicle as consumers snapped up 33,744 units last year.
Unfortunately for Ford, the Nautilus is made in China. This means it’s being battered by steep tariffs and an unpredictable trade war.
