• Kia has achieved a new sales record for February.
  • Redesigned Telluride helped model have best-month ever.
  • EVs continue to stumble with sales down up to 52.9%.

Kia achieved an all-time sales record in America last year by selling 852,155 vehicles. That momentum continues as the brand has posted its best-ever February sales.

Last month, consumers snapped up 66,005 Kias for a 4.3% increase compared to 2025. While the Sportage came out on top with 13,901 units, the real story is the 2027 Telluride.

The redesigned crossover started arriving at dealers earlier in the month and this helped sales soar 37% to an all-time record of 13,198. That’s a huge increase and we can expect another boost when the hybrid variant arrives later this year. However, it carries a $7,300 premium over the standard model, so expect the reception to be somewhat muted.

Coming in third is the affordable K4, which starts at $22,290. Dealers moved 11,864 units last month, which was a small increase over the 11,669 sold last year.

As for vehicles seeing a surge in demand, the Carnival minivan was up 31% to 5,805 units. The K5 climbed 21%, while the Niro wasn’t far behind thanks to a 20% increase in sales.

EV Sales Tumble. Again

It wasn’t all good news as consumers continue to shun EVs in the wake of the elimination of the federal tax credit. EV6 sales were down 52.9% to 600 units, while the EV9 tumbled 39.8% as dealers only managed to move 819 crossovers. Combined, Kia’s EV sales totaled 1,419 units in February, down 46.1% year over year, and 2,633 units across the first two months of 2026, a 51.3% decline.

Sorento sales fell 12.4%, while the discontinued Soul is still making its way to the exits. Dealers moved 1,025 last month and a quick search suggests there are only around 600 units remaining in inventory.

Kia America’s vice president of sales operations, Eric Watson, said “Interest in the Kia brand throughout the U.S. is growing by leaps and bounds and the all-new 2027 Telluride is the reason. Just as we launched the second-generation SUV, Telluride achieved its highest-ever monthly sales, underscoring the sustained interest in and ongoing popularity of this segment leading model.”
