- GM has issued two new recalls involving four different vehicles.
- A software issue can result in stalls on the Silverado and Sierra.
- Chevy Express and GMC Savana Cutaways could have bad tires.
Ford may hold the unofficial title of recall king, but General Motors is now launching two new campaigns of its own. Together, they affect a combined 12,613 vehicles across two separate issues.
A vast majority of them are 2025-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 and GMC Sierra 3500 pickups. Impacted models are equipped with gasoline engines and dual fuel tanks. The problem is related to a rear fuel pump that may not transfer enough gas to the front tank, causing an engine stall.

GM became aware of the issue last October, when they discovered a “high occurrence of three diagnostic trouble codes” on trucks with dual fuel tanks.
An investigation determined that an incorrect engine control module software calibration can trigger trouble codes during normal fuel transfer from the secondary tank to the primary tank. If this occurs, it will disable further fuel transfers until the next key cycle.
This effectively means the trucks can run out of gas, even though there’s plenty of fuel onboard. In fact, the company is aware of 20 complaints about vehicles stalling while driving.
No accidents have been reported and the fix is relatively simple as the engine control module software will be updated. This will be done by dealers or through an over-the-air update.
Damaged Tires
The second recall involves 826 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana Cutaway vehicles from the 2025 and 2026 model year. They may be equipped with tires that have sidewall damage.
Details are limited as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration didn’t post a safety recall report, but the government noted the tires “may experience sudden air loss.” To address the issue, dealers will inspect the tires and replace them as necessary. Owner notifications are expected to go out next month.
